The
Annual California Department of
Education's Title
I Conference will
be
held in Anaheim on
April 27 & 28,
2009. There is a pre-conference
event to be held on
Sunday, April 26, 2009,
relating to parent
involvement. The title
of this event is "Addressing
the Gap - Using Parent
Involvement to Increase
Student Success and
Academic Achievement." The
presentation will
be provided through
the California Parent
Center at San Diego
State University's
Research Foundation.
The purpose of the
one day pre-conference
session is to assist
districts and schools
to work with parent
leaders to develop
strong community-family
partnerships, linked
directly to academic
goals to increase
student achievement.
The
district is purchasing
a block of 150 registrations
for this pre-conference.
We are offering these
reservations to Title
I school parents, one
parent per school. In
addition, transportation
will be provided to
and from Anaheim, leaving
from and returning to
the Education Center
on April 26, 2009.
Although
this Title I Parent
Involvement Conference
is held after the SPSA
development process,
parents will receive
invaluable information
about a research-based
model that enables families
and schools to work
as partners.
As
you identify parents
who are interested in
attending this conference
please inform them that
after attending this
conference their role
will be to assist the
district Parent Outreach
Department with developing
site-based effective
action teams.
Enclosed
for your information
is a notice concerning
the pre-conference and
the agenda. Please share
this information with
parent leaders who may
be interested in attending.
Complete the upper part
of the enclosed form
(do not complete the
method of payment) and
fax to this office at
619-725-7055 on or before
February 27, 2009. We
are making this offer
for one parent per school.
We may be able to offer
more seats to individual
schools depending upon
the level of response.
Quick

is offering, at no cost
to schools or parents,
to cover the registration
fee for the Title I
Parent Involvement pre-conference

also provide free transportation
from the Ed Center to

a parent to attend the
Title I PreConference
on April 26 is next
Friday, February 27.
